Elemental Dance

for Creative Arts and Experiential Therapists and Allied Health professionals

From an overwhelming number of requests by colleagues over the years, comes this unique workshop opportunity held by a Creative Arts Therapist with an alter-ego that is passionate about Middle Eastern dance and teaches and performs its modern group improvised and fusion dance forms.

Learn how to connect movements to your breath, use symbol and metaphor to embody movements (somatics), create various shapes and movement pathways with your body inspired by Mother Nature and sacred geometry, and discover how different movements inspired by the elements - earth, air, fire, water and spirit - and the basics of moving together in group or “tribe”, all to the lush sounds of Middle Eastern, Romani and world fusion electronic music.

There will be a discussion about the neuroscience, transpersonal philosophy and therapeutic benefits of moving together as a “tribe” and how to bring the concepts into your therapeutic practice. Movement exploration will be supported with journalling, body mapping and mark-making processes for an integrative learning experience.

DISCLAIMER: Lauren is not a trained Dance and Movement therapist, but dance and movement (and music!) have been an integral part of her personal wellbeing journey for the past 20+ years. It has become a vital part of her multimodal approach to working therapeutically with clients.

Open to all genders and body types! No dance experience necessary!
